The latest news from the Lubbock Avalanche Journal. Link to Story Bojan Szumanski accomplished one goal on Wednesday, but the junior men’s tennis player still has one more he’d like to attain. Szumanski became the first Texas Tech men’s tennis player to win a match at the NCAA Individual Championships in Athens, Ga. After losing the first set to Pennsylvania’s Jason Pinsky, Szumanski rallied to win the next two, claiming a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory. “He is now in the final 32 and that is a great accomplishment,” Tech head coach Tim Siegel said. “He wants to be the first All-American at Texas Tech and to do that, he’s got to win one more.”
This is the 4th straight year for Tech to send a player to the NCAA Individual Championships, but Bojan is the first to make it past the first round.
